Dammkrug – Fehrbellin – Protzen

A pleasant cycle route between
Dammkrug near Neuruppin, Fehrbellin and Protzen.

The route runs mainly
through the open landscape of the Rhinluch and
follows the course of the K6801 for long stretches.
Along the way, it crosses Wustrauer Rhin,
Rhinkanal, Große Schleusengraben and
Rhingraben.

This cycle route connects Dammkrug near Neuruppin with Fehrbellin and Protzen, passing through the wide-open landscape of the Rhinluch.

From Dammkrug, the route initially heads towards Fehrbellin. It crosses Wustrauer Rhin and runs almost parallel to K6801 for long stretches. Open meadows, fields, ditches and waterways characterise this part of the tour.

Fehrbellin lies south of Neuruppin, at the transition between the Rhinluch and Ländchen Bellin. The village and its surroundings have been closely connected with the Rhin and the drainage of the Luch landscape for centuries.

From Fehrbellin, the tour continues along Lentzker Straße. It then turns into Mühlenweg and heads out into the landscape criss-crossed by numerous waterways.

Further on, the route crosses Rhinkanal, Große Schleusengraben and Rhingraben. This section provides a particularly good impression of the distinctive landscape of the Rhinluch, with its extensively branched network of canals and drainage ditches.

The route eventually reaches Protzen, a district of the municipality of Fehrbellin. It can just as easily be ridden in the opposite direction.

Notes

The route is mostly pleasant to ride and has no significant climbs.

A large part of the route runs near or parallel to K6801. Particular care is required around road crossings and access roads because of vehicle traffic.

Between Fehrbellin and Protzen, the tour includes Lentzker Straße and Mühlenweg. Several waterways and canals of the Rhinluch are crossed along the way.

After prolonged periods of rain, individual sections may be wet or muddy. Actual rideability may also change due to agricultural traffic and seasonal conditions.

Rideability information
The route is mostly in good condition and pleasant to cycle. It is predominantly flat, with no significant climbs. For extended sections, it runs near K6801, while retaining the landscape’s quiet, rural character. Care should be taken in traffic when crossing roads and at access roads. On the rural sections between Fehrbellin and Protzen, path conditions may temporarily deteriorate after heavy rain or because of agricultural traffic. The tour can be ridden in both directions.
